33 things to see and do in Bath during 2024's upcoming Heritage Open Days

England’s largest festival of history and culture returns with dozens of free behind the scenes and interactive tours, visits and activities from 6-15 September 2024.

With so much on offer across Bath and North East Somerset and the West of England regions, we've pulled together a day-by-day guide to the 33 events available to all in Bath for Heritage Open Days 2024, from organ tours and talks to exclusive visits and hands-on activities. Pre-booking is generally not required, unless otherwise specified.

Friday 6 September

• Commonwealth War Graves Commission Tours 2024 - Bath (Locksbrook) Cemetery: Join a special tour (max 25 places) 11am-12.30pm. Pre-booking required.

• Discovering the Romans at the Roman Baths Clore Learning Centre: 6-8pm Booking essential

• "Real Tennis, Mr Sadler's Balloon, The Hereford Chicken" - and other stories from the Museum of Bath at Work: Talks from local historian Ann Cullis at 11am and 2.30pm

• Church of Our Lady and St Alphege: 2.30pm tour.  

Saturday 7 September

• Prior Park Landscape Gardens (National Trust): Free admission 10am-4pm:

• Bath Quaker Burial Ground / Garden: 10am-4.30pm

• Southcot Burial Ground: 11am-3pm including a self-guided family trail

• Bath Elim Church: Past, Present & Beyond: 10-4pm

• Walcot Methodist Chapel: 12-3pm

• Weston Free Church (Moravian) Open Day: 12-4pm

• Newton Park - home of Bath Spa University: Tours of Grounds and buildings: 11am-5pm

• Newton Park - home of Bath Spa University (bookable activities): A range of bookable events including: Story Detectives 11am and 2pm, Bath Mini-Readathon 1pm, Unearth the Past 2pm and Wordsworth by the Lake 2pm (Booking required)
